Commonly used with Internet marketing campaigns, destination URLs refer to the web page you would like visitors to land on when they click on an ad or link (AKA: landing page). Frequently, in many advertising platforms (like Google AdWords as am example), this varies from the display URL, which represents the webpage address that appears with the ad.

As an example, if your sponsored ad promotes a specific product on your website, you may have your destination URL take the customer to that specific product’s page. However, within the ad, you may choose to show your home page’s URL for brand recognition and/or to save space.
